Criteria in Determining the Best Affiliate Program

Joining an Affiliate Program is a great way to start eaing a sizeable income on the Inteet without many of the hassles that come with running your own business.

But the problem is… there are so much affiliate programs out there for you. In this article I will guide you to choose the most suitable and profitable Affiliate Program for you. I recommend you to follow this rule before choosing an Affiliate Program.

1. Find a great quality product or service

Remember that any recommendation you make will reflect directly on you. If you recommend a great quality product, the people you recommended will always trusted you and be interested in future recommendations that you make. If you recommend a bad quality product, and I'll guarantee that they will likely hesitate to act on any offers you recommend.

Don't get greedy. Only recommend products that you truly believe in.

2. Look for a program that offers top commissions.

I think it's perfectly reasonable for you to expect to be paid 30% to 50% of the profits on each product sold. 5% to 10% is very low. You should look for companies who understand the "lifetime value" of new customers you refer and appreciate your efforts.

Only consider joining programs that show a similar level of respect for their affiliates.

3. Make sure they have a high sales conversion ratio

Make sure that the affiliate program is tuing a reasonable number of visitors into sales. If not, then your efforts directing traffic to their website will be completely wasted. A 1% conversion ratio (1 out of every 100 visitors) is quite good, 2%+ is better.

4. Be sure you'll be credited for every sales you make

You should find out what kind of tracking software the Affiliate Program that you're interested in joining uses. You MUST look for a program that uses quality affiliate tracking software that is reliable and tracks ALL (online, by phone, fax, mail orders, etc), because there are many companies only track online orders, and this means that you will never get credit for anywhere from 5% - 10% of your affiliate sales!.

Make sure they have a high sales conversion ratio and a good tracking software.

5. They should allow you to access your sales statistics real time

What I mean is that the Affiliate Program you join should give you a special useame and password that you can use to access your own personal affiliate sales information right on their website. Many affiliate programs have done this, you don't have to worry about that, but incase they don't, you should reconsider to join them.

6. Look for a program that teaches you to maximize your affiliate sales

A good affiliate program will provide you with everything you need to be successful. They'll provide you with traffic-generating banners, text-links, and recommendation letter templates. They'll tell you which techniques work well in which circumstances.

Find an affiliate program that is similarly dedicated to educating their affiliates.

7. Make sure they are reputable.

I still feel I should mention the importance of doing business with a reputable company. I know many people who have worked really hard, made a lot of sales for a company, but then they have never been paid or forced to wait months and months to get their money, I've been there too. If you have any conces about a company that you are thinking of doing business with, ask for references and do some checks on them before you join them.

8. Be sure to read all contracts and agreements.

Before you join any affiliate program, just make sure that you read all contracts and agreements very carefully. Pay very close attention to exclusivity clauses in the agreement. Be careful that any affiliate agreement or contract you sign does not restrict you.

Affiliate Sites Can Generate Repeat Visits

What makes your site special? Do you have enough deep content that the search engines serve you up first? Or do you have little conventional content, but the word of mouth of your target audience who finds value in the community you have created? Perhaps you advertise in offline venues that are well-targeted. Whatever the reason, you're cleared the first hurdle. Now you just have to get your visitors to come back on a regular basis.

Obviously repeat visits are good – you have the chance to showcase your own newest products, or the newest content you have developed. But repeat visits are critical if you are to be a success as a publisher or affiliate site.

Because people buy after five or six impressions, it is important that you not only attract new users to your site, but that you get repeat visits from the same site visitors. People need to find your site either useful or fun, or, ideally, both.

There are ways you can do this, and not be just a "utility" type of site. Take, for instance, the maker of a prescription drug, who has set up a website. If someone is prescribed the drug by their doctor, they might visit the drug maker's site to lea about the drug. This would be a one-time visit, and unless the drug is in the news or particularly controversial, they wouldn't be likely to visit again. But add a blog where users of the drug can discuss symptoms and tips and side effects, and you have automatic repeat visitors. They are also likely to mention other helpful products by name and brand, Add merchants who sell vitamins, spa treatments, and see how the affiliate sales ratchet up.

The key to start your online business and ensure its continued success is to create your own product or get a resale rights of others products.

How to get your own product?

You can make your hobby a job. Just look around and choose what you're really passionate about. Invest your time on it: you will need to do your market research what means search on the net in your field.

For example, if you are interesting in cars, you will need to do your research in this field; see what people are already selling, how are they doing it and ask yourself how you can improve what they are already doing.

You will also search what customers need that are currently not on the market. You will need to divide your market by knowing how people shop for cars, and who they are. You will be very amazed by the price you can get from it.

Private label resell rights mean you get the source files so you create a new product from it and call it your own. You could edit the content, the sales page and repackage the entire product.

You could even use the text content to create a niche website theme, online e-course...You could sell the resell rights to others. So when you sell that product to someone, you could offer them the resell rights as well for a higher price so they can tu around and sell it to someone else.

The best way To get Instant Access To An Endless Stream Of High Quality Master Resale Rights & Private Label Products That You Can Resell For Huge Profits, is to become a membership of Resale Rights Club or purchase Exclusives Resales Rights Products Packages.

Affiliate Referrals to Regulated Businesses

As an affiliate you may not have a license to sell stocks, bonds, firearms, prescription drugs or to loan money or provide investment advice. These businesses are considered regulated businesses, and representations about or the provision of their services can only be done by individuals with appropriate licenses.

However, as an affiliate you still have the ability to "hand off" a site visitor who is interested in the services of one of these businesses. But you can only do this if you make no representations about such a service, are not involved in providing any physical products, and are not, in any way, involved in providing such services. This means that you simply place a banner or link from the provider of such services on your website. You are not allowed to change or add to any such materials provided by the merchant, provide any services or provide any customer service functions.

Individual merchants as well as affiliate networks have very strict guidelines about such services, and for them to do otherwise could put their licenses in jeopardy. Affiliates need to be careful to abide by the regulations.

So why do merchants want affiliates to advertise these products that require extra diligence, and what is the attraction to affiliates? Some of these products have created a great deal of interest, and a high volume of subsequent transactions. Mortgages, refinancing and home equity loans are good examples. People want to have the ability to comparison shop, and in many cases geography is not an issue in service provision. The inteet provides a marketplace where both sides of a transaction can look for the best possible deal. Affiliates gain by bringing the two participants in the transaction together.

Affiliate Software Tracking External Campaigns Made Easy

Many people don't realise that affiliate software has more uses than just "simple" affiliate management. It can be used to track activity (including conversions and ROI) of campaigns running on AdWords, Overture, or anywhere else.

First question is - why should you do it?

Most of the advertising systems do have some kind of sale conversion tracking.

This is true, but there are some benefits when you use your affiliate system to do the work:

  • You can compare the results of different campaigns

Affiliate software (if it's good one) will allow you to easily view reports of clicks, sales and conversions for given campaign. You can easily find out what pays of and what not.

Moreover, by comparing conversion ratio of different campaigns you can identify the weak points and try to improve them.

What if you'll find out that your Overture campaign converts much less visitors into buyers than AdWords?

If you know this, you can try to improve it. And when you make a change, the affiliate system will tell you again if your sale conversion increased or not, and how it compares to others.

  • No need to include multiple sale tracking codes

It is simply less work. When you have affiliate software installed, it already contains the sale-tracking snippet.

So you don't need to edit your pages and place the sale conversion codes for every new advertising system you plan to use, you'll simply use the affiliate's system build-in sale tracking capability.

  • It allows you to track also systems that don't implicitly offer sale conversion tracking

Google AdWords and Overture do have sale conversion tracking, but what if you buy campaign somewhere else? Or banner placement, sponsored listing, etc.?

You can even track free listing or text link included in some web directory or your friend's web page.

My company uses multiple marketing channels, for example we pay for sponsored listing on HotScripts. If we don't track it with affiliate system, we would have no idea how many visitors HotScripts sends to our page, and how many of them actually made a purchase.

  • Now, if I persuaded you that tracking ROI and conversions using affiliate system is a good idea, let's move to the next step - how to set it up.

It depends on the affiliate software you use, but most of them will have this functionality.

First of all, what can be tracked?

    • pay-per-click campaigns on Google AdWords, Yahoo Marketing and similar
    • your own link exchanges with another website
    • your paid advertisements on another web sites
    • etc.

The principle is simple - you should create a special "virtual" affiliate for every system or campaign you want to track. Then use its affiliate link instead of your website URL in the campaign destination.

Because the advertisement on exteal website points to your site through affiliate link, affiliate system will track the clicks and purchases originating from this source as if it is your affiliate.

You can easily control how many clicks they are really sending to you, get the conversion ratio, etc.

Exact measurement of campaign results will enable you to effectively plan your marketing campaigns and improve your marketing techniques.

Example - Tracking Google AdWords step by step

    1. Create "virtual" affiliate for Google - go to admin panel of your affiliate program and manually create new affiliate called Google 'Adwords'.

You can specify any affiliate details, it is not a real affiliate and only you can access it.

    2. Get the affiliate link - log in to affiliate control panel of new affiliate and get the affiliate's link. You can use link from code of any banner, or you could have created special banner for this before.

Affiliate link usually looks like http://www.yoursite.com/?ref=affiliateid

    3. Use affiliate link in AdWords campaign - open your Google control panel, and rewrite the ad destination URL with the affiliate's link.

That's all. Now the traffic and conversions coming from Google AdWords will be tracked. Because you used affiliate link as a destination URL, the traffic from Google AdWords will be sent to this link.

Google acts as your affiliate, but because it is virtual account for your own use, you don't need to pay it any commission from affiliate system.

    CONCLUSION

Affiliate software can simplify your life by tracking your ROI and conversions from multiple different exteal systems and/or campaigns (like AdWords, Overture, HotScripts, etc.), and providing reports and comparison of the results.

Be Careful of Clickbank The One Secret I Should Not Have Disclosed

I have a secret I have got to reveal. Keep this to yourself.

Do you notice when you visit most sales page, they have an "affiliates sign up" or "make money here" link which directs you to their affiliate sign up page? Imagine this scenario, Thomas visits the site through your affiliate link, he reads the sales copy and is convinced but the price $79 is a little steep. He sees the "affiliates sign up" link and clicks. He realizes he could get at 60% discount with the commission and so he signs up with clickbank and buys through his own link.

The vendors do not want this to happen right? Wrong! Fact is, they had intended to sell at $31(40%) of the price and so set it at $79. The affiliate link was prominently displayed so visitors could easily see it and sign up and get the discount. This make the buyer thinks he has got into a "winning" situation but in fact the vendor got the sale he wanted and an affiliate at the same time.

Armed with this knowledge you should be able to be more disceing when selecting the products to promote. That said, here are some ways which you can profit from Clickbank.

    Tip 1

Criteria for selecting your products. Never select a product that is priced too high, pays out commission below 50% and a sales copy that sucks. Amazingly, there are affiliates promoting these products still!

    Tip 2

Make full use of the resources page. They are there for a reason, they must be working otherwise or they would not have been there. That is not to say you can use your own promotional tools, by all means go ahead!

    Tips 3

Getting traffic. There are many ways of generating traffic. One of them is by using Google Adwords. It is targeted and fast. You get quick targeted traffic and the thing is, if you do your keyword research well, you can get it cheaply too. More on free traffic generators is available in my book "Clickbank Profit Machine"

Dylan has just launched his book "Clickbank Profit Machine" and would like to invite all affiliates serious about making money with it to take a look. http://www.clickbankprofitmachine.com (there is no "affiliate sign up here" or "make money here" link)

He has his own affiliate's resource page over at http://www.clickbankprofitmachine.com/affiliates.htm

    Are Affiliates Not Social

This question could be extended by "and inteet marketers in general". The answer to that question was widely believed to be "Yes".

    The Misconception
People tend to think of an Affiliate as a tech savvy geek that spends day and night to find ways to promote a big merchant and make big bucks via the commission eaed for the sales made by the referred customers; a person that is very protective about everything he does, that generates at least a few sales or leads. You probably also thought of the people that run the Affiliate Program for a Merchant, who are called Affiliate Managers or short AM's, are snobby suits that try to use the legions of their affiliates to generate easy money for their employers.Socializing would almost be unthinkable if this is true. Who is going to socialize with his maid? Right?

This picture of affiliates and their counterpart on the merchant side seems to be a misconception that might be true only in some rare cases.

It did not took very long after affiliate programs became more and more popular that Affiliate Forums emerged, especially when Amazon.com launched their Affiliate Program (Amazon called it Associate Program) in 1996 which allowed instant signup and approval for anybody and his uncle in combination with the growing trend of creating personal home pages on free hosters like Geo Cities.

    Early Communities, Forums
Forums like the AssociatePrograms.com Forum , RevBoard, ABestWeb, Affiliate Boards and Affiliate Marketing Forum at WebProWorld were frequented by affiliates using nick names or just the first name to exchange general information about programs, commissions and that sort of things.

Posting of Affiliate Site URL's was a "don't do it" rule although most forums did not specifically prohibited the posting of links, if related to the discussed topic. Some had the rule not to post somebody else's Affiliate URL. The fear for copy cats and the potential loss of hard eaed commissions was wide spread and sometimes also well founded. Anything that was giving hints to the identity of the affiliate and it's website was avoided by most members in the public forum areas.

That affiliates are social could already be seen in the "off topic" or "midnight chat" sections of the Affiliate Marketing Forums, if such a category was available. Towards the end of last year sites started to emerge that supported and even encouraged social mingling between affiliates and also affiliate managers and networks.

    The New Trend, Social Netwoks
At the end of December 2005 launched the social site RetuOnAffiliate.com (short RoA). RoA is a social community site following the trend of general social sites like MySpace.com, but was created solely for People in the Affiliate Marketing Industry. If it would be correct, that the people in that industry, especially the affiliates, are not social, sites like RoA would vanish quickly because of lack of users to support it.

This is not the case, quite the opposite. RoA grew it's member base within 3 month to over 2,000. Of course is a lot of the communication related to inteet marketing, but the communication goes far beyond that.Personal Information and thoughts are shared in public message boards, special interest groups, blogs and mail. Every member has also his own blog, message board, book mark collection and can create freely new groups for others to join. Members that disguise their origin and blog their personal pages are the exception.

Another example for an Affiliate Marketing Community site is the Affiliate Summit 2006 East Social Network created for the attendees of the Affiliate Summit Conference which will be held in Florida on July 9-11 later this year.

    Fazit
I am convinced, that this trend will continue in the years to come and have a major impact on the affiliate marketing industry. Connecting through social networks allows marketers to get to know each other much better and help with the creation of new professional and personal relationships.

Problems between merchants and affiliates will probably solved much quicker and easier without escalating as much as they used to in the past, because instead of Affiliate xxx having a problem with yyy, John has a problem with the Merchant Jane is working for.

If you ask yourself the question, who would you rather do business with, the one you don't know or the one you can associate a face with and know personally through interactions on community sites? If the business reasons are not overwhelmingly leaning towards one of them, I would go with the one I know personally. Business is much easier and enjoyable if you do it with a "him" or "her" and not an "it". See you soon at an Inteet Marketing Community Site.

How To Market Affiliate Programs With Your Newsletter

If you've been building an opt-in list, you are on the right track to making a living online. If you have yet to start building your list, you need to get started right away! A quality list is worth a lot of money, if you know how to use it. Notice the word 'quality'….not 'quantity!' A list does not have to be huge to tu a profit. Again, if you have a quality list, you can tu out a quality newsletter, and then you can lea how to use your newsletter to promote your affiliate programs.

First you should note that the newsletter must be of high quality. Just sending your list advertisements will not cut it in today's competitive online market place. Your subscribers do not want advertisements – they can find those anywhere. What they want is quality up-to-date information. As a marketer, you produce that information, and build the information around one of your affiliate programs.

Start by choosing a product that you feel your highly qualified list will be interested in. Really think about this long and hard, and make sure that you pick a quality product or service. If you've used your newsletter in the right way up to this point, your subscribers will put a lot of faith in your recommendations – and you are about to make a recommendation.

With that product, write an article. The article should not be about the product – unless it is a review of the product. Instead, it should pertain to something that relates to the use of that product. For instance, if you are advertising a shampoo, you would probably want to write an article about hair care – not about the shampoo.

You can work the product into the article in various ways. For instance, if you are just promoting one product with your article, at the end of the article, you might suggest to your readers that using brand x – with your affiliate link – will help them achieve better results or that you've found that this brand is better than that brand, or something along those lines.

If you are promoting several products within one article, spread them about throughout the text, but make sure that your article doesn't become one big advertisement – and avoid promoting too many products within one article. Also avoid including more than one article in each issue of your newsletter. You want your visitors attention to remain focused – and if you give them information overload in one issue, your chances of making any sales at all diminish!

It is vital that you use a professional link cloaker. You do not want your affiliate link to look like an affiliate link! A link cloaker will change the text of your link, but when clicked, the linked cloak will take your reader to the site with the product that you are promoting – and you will get credit for the sale. Using a link cloaker also prevents link hijacking – where someone exchanges your affiliate ID with their own affiliate ID in the link.

Be personable with your readers. Become their friend. Let them know that you are looking out for them, and that you are interested in helping them achieve something. Developing a relationship with your readers is the key to getting them to trust your recommendations.

Dave s Cool Little Idea Building A Cool Little Website From Scratch

Over the last few years, a lot of people have discovered the profit making potential of the affiliate program called Clickbank. At the same time, other folks were discovering the profitability of selling their useless stuff on eBay and still more people found that by placing enough Adsense ads on their website, they could bring in a good bit of extra money every month. Peanut butter is pretty good, and chocolate is even better. But together they create a delicious taste that is more than the sum of its parts. In a sense, 1+1+1=5. This formula can also work in regards to making money.

    Dave's Cool Little Website

Dave Purves was the inspiration behind this idea. It was Dave's Cool Little Website that showed us all the awesome power of combining multiple affiliate programs to multiply the profitability of any given website. So without further delay, let's dive in to lea how to build our own cool little profit cranking website!

    There's Power In Numbers

Individually, you could make some pretty good money from Clickbank, eBay or Adsense. But why stop there? What if you were to create your very own website with all three components built in? You would be making three times the money with only one times the effort. Let's outline the four things you'll need to get into business.

    Master Of Your Domain

The first thing you'll need is a domain name and hosting. Try to think of a theme that you'd like to base your website on such as "elegant antiques" or "home stereo equipment". Once you have a theme, go to goDaddy.com to see if you can get a domain name with those keywords in them. If you can, you're in a good position to start from. goDaddy.com also offers hosting so if you like, you can make a one stop shop.

    Clickbank Profits

Next, you'll need to get a free Clickbank.com account. This way you'll be eligible to make money on any of their products that you place the applicable links on your website for. They've got about 5000 products in their Clickbank Marketplace at any one time and thousands more that aren't listed. All you need to do is go to their marketplace from the link on their homepage, and do a search for your theme keywords. This will give you a great selection of products that match with your theme. You have picked one haven't you?

Don't Spend On eBay – Ea!

Up next, you're going to go to cj.com to get another free account. It's Commission Junction and they are the official affiliate management company for eBay. Once you've signed up and hooked in with eBay's affiliate program, you can get a powerful piece of code from them to drop into your website's HTML code. This will show eBay auctions on your website. Every time someone buys something through your website at eBay you make a commission. You can choose to show products from a specific eBay category, or products matching a selected phrase. The second one is the one I recommend as you can once again use your theme keywords again.

    Extra Cash With Adsense

Finally, you're going to sign-up with Google Adsense at adsense.google.com. Now, I do recommend that you have the rest of the website already set up before you do this because Google will use it to judge whether or not you qualify. It's usually pretty easy to qualify as long as your website looks good, serves a purpose and doesn't have any broken links.

    Incorporation Of Your Articles

Once you've got all of these components together, it's time to make as many webpages as you can. I recommend including some articles from any of the article sites that allow you to reprint their articles. This will help give you more content based on your theme. This also helps you rank better for your particular theme in the search engines.

You've Got Your eBay In My Clickbank!

Set up the homepage with a large eBay block of listings front and center, which you already should have from eBay's affiliate program. Down the outside columns you should add themed links from Clickbank products, Google Adsense ads, and links to your articles. Include as many themed pages of Clickbank links as there are for your theme. If you want to, create other pages for other Clickbank links you are interested in promoting.

Anyway You Slice It, You Make Money

Once you've got the entire website together, you'll have a profit pulling website that your customers will have a difficult time not eaing you money on. If they click on an eBay ad and buy, you make money. If they click on a Clickbank link and buy, you make money. And finally, if they click on an Adsense ad you make money.

    Multiple Streams Of Inteet Income

If you can make money one way, why not make money in several ways? Don't take my outline above as gospel. You could combine any affiliate program you know of on the inteet into one website as long as you keep a specific theme. This will help your customers and the search engines from seeing just a big mess of links. This is how the big boys do it while marketing on the inteet. One product or program will not make you rich, but by combining several you could be on your way to financial freedom.

Sound like a lot of work? Check out how you can get a website designed for you just like the one described above called Dave's Cool Little Website.

How to Create High Ranking Affiliate Sites

Ever wondered how the big boys make so much money with affiliate programs? Here's some ideas to get you started on your own affiliate marketing business.

You will need to spend some time researching the best paying affiliate programs. Affiliate programs that I have used are Commission Junction and Clickbank. Commission Junction sell hard goods whilst Clickbank sell information products and software. Both programs have some high paying affiliate products.

Before you create any web pages or choose a domain name, you need to do some research. Take time to decide what sort of product you might wish to sell and then locate an affiliate program related to your chosen product. For example, if you have an interest in dogs, then you might choose an affiliate e-book about "Dog Training". Make a note of all the relevant products and what your commission will be.

How to find your affiliate program

    Commission Junction

You can search their programs by advertiser name or products. Hence, in our example of "dogs", you could search on the "products" box for this and find merchants who are selling this.

They also have a very useful tool called the EPC, which reflects how much has been eaed for every 100 clicks. For example, if the EPC is $5, this would mean that for every 100 clicks, Commission Junction has paid out $5.

Now it's just simple maths, if you refer 100 customers to this program each day, you can expect to ea $5, 200 customers eas $10 and so on.

This is just a rough estimate of traffic, but it certainly helps in choosing one merchant over another, when they're selling the same or similar products.

Also, it will depend on how relevant the advert is to your site. In our example, a "vegetarian dog food" advert placed on a site about dogs is likely to be more successful than one placed on a site about home cooking!

    Clickbank

Visit CBmall.com to search the products that Clickbank have available. Again, you might search for "dogs" and come up with "dog training" products to market online.

Then create a mini-site focused on your product. Visit ez-search-engine-optimization.com and download Andrew's free book on "Creating Niche Sites" for step by step instructions to creating a site which is highly attractive to the search engines.

    Buying traffic

A quick way to get traffic to your site is to pay for clicks from either Overture or Google. Buying traffic is a numbers game and is only likely to be profitable if you are selling something of a high value.

If you are selling an e-book for which you get paid a $25 commission fee and you are converting 1% of your visitors into sales, you can afford to pay up to 25 cents per click. Ideally you'd pay less than this so that you can make a profit!

How To Create Your Own Successful And Profitable Affiliate Program

Most of the truly successful marketers have three competitive advantages :

    • They run successful Affiliate Programs (Part 1)

    • They own large Opt-In Lists and have large traffic (Part 2)

    • They create their own products (Part 3)

Step #1 - Three Affiliate Program Opportunities

    • Opportunity 1 - Using Own Products and Services

Combining your own products with a successful Affiliate Program is almost a license to write your own checks.

    • Opportunity 2 - Using Resell and Master Rights Products

Surprisingly, as you will see in step 4, you can create and run an Affiliate Program even if you don't have your own products and services.

    • Opportunity 3 - Substitute Joint Ventures

All successful Affiliate Programs are joint ventures in miniature. Your affiliate partners require as much of your support and commitment as would any JV partners.

Step #2 - The Top Ten Features Of A Good Affiliate Program

    1. It delivers consistent sales for Affiliates, by marketing products with high consumer benefits.

    2. It operates on a Leveraged I'ncome Pay structure, which extends a number of levels deep.

    3. It operates on a Residual I'ncome Pay structure giving Affiliates repeat I'ncome.

    4. A good program has high quality marketing tools and incentives for the Affiliates.

    5. It pays out big percentages of the sale to the Affiliates and it pays promptly

    6. The administration function tracks and corrects affiliate issues quickly, and effectively.

    7. A good program trains and supports Affiliates enthusiastically.

    8. It offers Affiliates complimentary, high value, front and back end products for promotion.

    9. It handles all end customer care issues.

      10) A good program constantly tests new ideas to support and strengthen ties with affiliates and end customers alike.

Step #3 - "Own Product Affiliate Program"

Most people join an Affiliate Program on the strength and reliability of its compensation plan.

    * Compensation Structure Planning :

    • Who can join the program

Is it open to anyone or just selected, approved partners ?

    • Downline matrix structure for Leveraged I'ncome

How deep is the matrix of downline eaings for Leveraged I'ncome ?

    • Residual I'ncome Payments

Does the program pay Residual I'ncome, on repeat subscriptions for as long as the end customer renews ?

    • Minimum Payment amounts, and deadlines.

Policy on payments, retus and deductions from Affiliate payments must be clear from the beginning.

    • Affiliate monitoring of the program

Affiliates must be able to easily monitor referrals and eaings. Clear and accurate reports to Affiliates should be available online or sent by e-mail.

    * Marketing Plans

Develop high quality graphical links that Affiliates can use on their own websites to point to your program. These include

    • Web Templates and copy

    • Banner Links

    • Button Links

    • Text Links

Write e-courses coaching your Affiliates on what works best in promoting your products and services.

Do not make the mistake of thinking that when they sign up the whole thing will run on autopilot.

    * Legal Issues

Consult professional, qualified lawyers to help you draw up your program terms and conditions before you go to market. The upfront cost involved may save you greater expense in the future.

Step #4 - Resell and Master Rights Product Affiliate Programs

An Affiliate Program without your own products is possible, but use caution - it is less likely to be a huge eaer, than one promoting your own stable of products.

Why would anyone join an Affiliate Program to promote a resell or master rights product, that they could buy and sell eaing 100% of the profits ?

The answer is reduced effort, time and money.

An Affiliate Program for resell or master rights products saves the affiliate from having to buy, process, add value to and give customer service to the resell rights product.

It becomes an easy I'ncome stream that people may want to join.

The trick in this situation is to

    • Spot a product with selling potential, that is relatively scarce and has not been over marketed.

    • Create the Affiliate Program where the product owner has failed or is incapable of seeing the market opportunity.

Remember caution - Do not spend huge sums setting up this type of program because the "Retu on Investment" is likely to be low.

Step #5 - Mini Joint Venture

JV partners bring "something with them, to the party" - This might be funding, a huge opt-in list, a product or service, or ideas.

Affiliate partners on the other hand, bring only their desire to promote your products and services.

However, the practical day to day administration of the two types of programs is very similar.

    For instance:

    • You should coach affiliates and JV partners in the best way to market the products.

    • You must listen to their issues and deal with them effectively and efficiently

    • You must make sure they are happy with the program arrangements, in order that they promote it strongly and join up for future promotions.

JV's and Affiliate programs are different, but only in small details. Treat them with similar care.

Step #6 - Affiliate Program Automation

Quality tools are indispensable for Affiliate Program Automation

    • Affiliate Scripts - These are commercially available scripts that allow you to set up programs of various complexity in terms of compensation plans, account management, and program administration.

    • Administration Tools - These allow you to see in detail which Affiliates are performing and deserving of more of your effort, time and attention and which ones are not and can therefore be dropped from the program.

    • Sequential Autoresponder - Use this to coach and train your Affiliates by sending them regular e-mail.

    • VoIP Communicators - These allow you to hold Cheap Live training and support seminars where your Affiliates can virtually attend, see, hear and talk to one another from across the Globe without the need for expensive travel or phone costs.

    • Payment Processor - This is the facility by which your Affiliate partners will be paid.

    • Product Fulfillment - A successful program will generate many sales and the fulfillment process must be able to cater for the heavy workload.

    • Customer Care - The extra sales means that you may need to handle higher levels of end customer issues including retus.

    Step #7 - In a Nutshell

This may seem daunting at first reading, but in reality setting up an Affiliate Program is straightforward.

    The blue print is :

    • Decide on the product type you want to set a program up for.

    • Decide on Affiliate entry and acceptance criteria

    • Decide on the compensation plan

    • Decide on the marketing plan

    • Decide the legal structure

    • Choose your automation tools

    • Market the program

    • Train and support your affiliates, especially your winners.

    • Don't be afraid to test new ideas

    Affiliate Revenue Part 4

The last few weeks have been taken up with preparations for the launch of my latest online venture.

You may recall in a recent email how I started to dabble in affiliate reselling and met with immediate and albeit unexpected success.

Now I am taking the experiment a quantum leap forward with the launch of a portal website featuring 12,000+ ClickBank products plus a sprinkling of the best of the latest affiliate reselling opportunities.

    Window dressing the storefront

I have already tweaked the system so that at will I can do an instant makeover of the 12 featured products.

For a month I shall leave them as they are to monitor retus.

Thereafter I shall rotate these from a choice of 100 alteatives

Will surfers use the search box in my system's portal?

I think the answer must be 'yes'; especially when you consider this endorsement from no less than personage than a ClickBank Vice President,

"This system has serious tools for serious ClickBank affiliates" Jennifer J., Vice President of Client & Customer Services, ClickBank.com.

How well will my system perform?

That's anyone's guess but I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be a case of softly-softly, catchee-monkey.

If I am wrong and it suddenly takes off, I'll let you know in Part 5…

If you would see for yourself what I am up to with my new portal, you might wish to visit the website featured in the resource box below.

Affiliating Correctly Only Work With the Winners

You need to do a bit of research on which affiliate programs you choose to work with. Why work hard to make $10 when the same amount of work could have netted you $100? Choose your affiliate relationships wisely.

First of all make sure that you are targeting the right market. Don't try to sell nursing shoes on a site that is all about hunting and fishing. Even if you were able to get someone to look at your product, the odds are pretty low that you are going to make a sale (stranger things have happened I suppose). Target your market correctly. If you are going to pursue pay per click advertising (which I highly recommend), then choose your affiliation according to the criteria outlined below.

How can I determine which affiliate programs are the most profitable?

Here are some points to consider when establishing an affiliate relationship:

Look for at least $30-$50 per sale or signup. If you consider that you may want to use pay per click advertising, you must have this type of retu.

Look for products or services that pay you for the lifetime of the sale. Talk about residual income! Several products that require a monthly subscription will continue to pay you for the life of the sale.

Promote established, trusted brands. I promote companies like ING (through Commission Junction), and Buy.com (through Linkshare)

Selling reports and products that can be downloaded online can be very profitable as well. It's not unusual to find commissions approaching nearly 50% for these types of products.

I understand the concepts, but what should I sell - Specifically?

Step ONE - You must join (OK, should join) the following programs:

Commission Junction – As far as I know, they offer the biggest affiliate network at this time. They also have very nice information about each company that tells you how much they pay out per 100 visitors to their affiliate sites. Target these companies products.

Linkshare – They've been paying me for years for the customers I send them. Highly recommended.

AdReporting – Big commissions, lots of clients. Join all three of these programs.

Step TWO - After joining Commission Junction, take a look at the best paying products and services. Use these products and services to target your companies on Linkshare and AdReporting.

You will quickly find that the best paying products/services are:

    Mortgages
    Credit Cards
    Office Supplies
    Web Hosting
    Software Products

These are all competitive markets, but there are ways to reach these potential customers. Check out Google Cash to lea about how to bring visitors to your site for pennies.

Best Free Online Affiliate Program How To Find it

Knowing how to identify the best free online affiliate program is important because it will have a huge impact on the sort of income you are able to generate. Not knowing how to identify the best free online affiliate program will cost you money because even if you are still able to ea some income, you will be unable to reap the full potential of your site, resources and personal skills.

Without exception the best free online affiliate program must allow you to ea income from the sales of your second tier sub affiliates. If it offers an opportunity for you to also ea on a third tier, it is even better. This is very important and this single factor can make a huge difference to the sort of income that you will end up with.

The reason is that no matter how good you are or how high the traffic your best free online affiliate program site receives, there is no way that you can compete with somebody who has got an army of second tier sub affiliates. And if that person even has a third tier army of sub-affiliates making sales on their behalf, they then become completely and totally unbeatable.

While it is important to check out all the other obvious factors when joining an affiliate program, like reputation of affiliate company and ability and track record in paying out commissions to affiliates, your best free online affiliate program must be one that pays you for sub affiliate sales.

    How To Build Your Sales

You may have heard of joint venture marketing, It's used frequently by savvy entrepreneurs to increase profits and add loads of prospects to their customer list.

So what is joint venture marketing (or j/v)?

Speaking at the Information Marketing Boot Camp (http://www.dc-infobiz.com), Joint venture expert and entrepreneur John Alanis describes it as "a mutually beneficial agreement to sell similar products or services to customers or prospects."

You approach another entrepreneur and ask them if they'll endorse your product and allow you to mail to their customer list.

In exchange, you give the entrepreneur a cut of the gross profits, usually anywhere from 5 to 25 percent. Or you could arrange a list swap.

J/V marketing allows you to quickly add hundreds or thousands of names to your customer list.

The first step is to find a suitable joint venture partner.

    Where do you look?

Try your own customers first. Send out a letter or email announcing you're looking for a j/v partner. Be sure to tell them you're looking for a partner who sells similar products to your own. And ask how many customers they have on their list. Obviously, the more, the better.

Another way of to find j/v partners is in trade publications. Look at the advertisers. You'll probably find a few that sell similar products to your own. Contact them by phone or letter and explain you'd like to create a joint venture with them.

Also look in the Standard Rate and Data Service (SRDS) (http://www.srds.com). This directory has every commercially available mailing list, the list owner, etc. Most larger libraries will have a copy of SRDS, although it may be a year or two out of date.

As well, check out the Oxbridge Directory of Newsletters (http://www.mediafinder.com) It's an excellent source for potential customers from newsletter subscriptions. It's an expensive directory to buy, but ask your library if they have a copy.

YOU MUST BE ENDORSED The most important thing is you must have your fellow entrepreneur include a letter of endorsement.

He has already established a relationship with his customers. You haven't. If his customers are satisfied with his product, then they'll much more open to receiving information from him about other products.

Without the endorsement, the customer response will drop significantly.

You can also ghost write the endorsement letter for your j/v partner and then have him sign it.

APPROACHING A J/V PARTNER The best way to approach a potential joint venture partner is to send a letter and then follow up by phone. Be prepared to phone at least a couple of times before your partner agrees.

When sending out the letter proposing a joint venture partnership, be sure to do the following:

    1. Offer to do all the work. You'll handle all the mailing, marketing documents, and product fulfilment.

    2. Collect the customer money yourself and then send your j/v partner his cut for each sale.

    3. Stress the fact that your partner will be "getting money for no work." This is a strong incentive for an entrepreneur to become your j/v partner.

    4. You will deduct your mailing costs and other expenses first and then split the balance with the partner.

    5. Always get your j/v partner to sign your letter agreeing to your terms.

    6. Include an "exit clause." This allows you to cancel the j/v agreement if you find your partner is a headache to deal with.

By following these steps to a joint venture, you'll be able to quickly add hundreds or thousands of potential customers to your database that normally would take years to accumulate.

And, most importantly, you'll increase your sales.

    Affiliate Programs Using Ebooks

Affiliate programs are an advertiser's way of generating revenue through the use of other companies/people. We will use ClickBank for example, when an e-book is submitted to ClickBank it is submitted with a sales page and an affiliate program. The affiliate programme will offer the opportunity for others to sell the product and in retu a percentage of the sale price is given to the affiliate. If you takean e-book book for example if you were to submit it to ClickBank and offer a 49% commission to all affiliates who sold it, affiliates would sign up to the ClickBank affiliate program and find an e-book in the lists of e-books and a hyperlink would be issued with a personalized ClickBank ID integrated inside the link. Place the personalized link on a website, in e-books or generally anywhere that the advertiser would think that will generate traffic. The personalized link will direct the customer to the sales page of this e-book. If they read it and buy the e-book you will receive 51% commission. So if 1000 people sell your e-book for you that's $25.50 x 1000 = $25,500 which is quite a nice little eaer for writing an e-book.

Joining affiliate programs on Clickbank and promoting other peoples e-books is even easier than writing your own e-book. Being an affiliate is easy money for very little work it is that simple. Can you now imagine how much money you would have made if you were an advertising affiliate of an e-book? 49% commission eaed from every sale, say you sell 1000 that's $24.50 x 1000 = $24,500 for only advertising and selling one guys e-book "WOW" now can you see the importance of affiliates in Inteet Marketing.

These are but a few of the affiliate companies out there, you can also become affiliates of stand alone companies. No matter which companies/programs you join you will always make money from affiliates and your revenue will always grow.

If you were to write an e-book about hair loss for example then in the e-book you may want to place a resources page somewhere in the contents. On this resources page place your affiliate advertiser's link. Then as discussed earlier sell your book with resale rights and wait for the commission to come in! It's that simple. Take advantage of all the ways you can use affiliates and it will pay off.

How to Find the Right Affiliate Programs

Finding the right affiliate programs to make money with is fairly simple. The first step is picking the niche topic or niche topics you want to have websites about. The best topics to start with are the topics you are interest in or passionate about.

After you decide the topics you can begin to look for affiliate programs that offer products that are related to your topics. Applying for most affiliate programs is easy and only requires you to give them your information and they'll allow you to join their affiliate program. However, some affiliate programs have an approval process and won't approve you to join their program without certain requirements like having a completed website, a certain amount of traffic or a certain method of advertising their product. For the affiliate programs that have tight criteria re-apply for them at a later date when your website is getting a large amount of traffic and your website is completely built.

While you search for affiliate programs you should also lea about what types of keywords people that search for the topic you have chosen use to search for to get to information about the topic. There are quite a few websites available that have keyword information. Some websites you need to pay for to use their service. If you want to minimize your costs you can do some research on your own. Keywords are determined by what a person is interested in regarding a topic and what words they use to search for topic.

Another topic to research while you are looking for affiliate programs is the how people advertise affiliate programs. Banner ads are a common way that people advertise affiliate programs, but many people say that banner ads have become ineffective means of advertising. The statistics of banner ads show they usually have low click through rates for affiliate programs. A popular way people are using right now to advertise affiliate programs are through text links. Text links can appear any where in an article and do best in a context that pre-sells the link and make a person want to click on it when they read it.

Text links also serve another purpose and that is to drive traffic to a website. Links that use keywords are considered 'anchor links' for a search engine and will give a higher ranking through a search engine.

Sometimes it can be hard to find a lot of affiliate programs for certain topics. If there are different websites that sell products for the topic you have chosen, but they don't advertise that they offer an affiliate program you can contact them to see if they do have one or would be interested in setting one up. Many businesses don't realize that they have nothing to lose setting up an affiliate program and everything to gain. When you are searching for affiliate programs you would be wise to lea about how affiliate programs are created and offer this to webmasters who don't have an affiliate program started.

Content for your topic is the next step in creating your website. Having some knowledge about HTML coding can be very helpful, but often time it is not necessary, because there are so many programs available that make building a website easily.

When you create your website content it is important to keep three things in mind: Know the information people want about your chosen topic, know the keywords people search for and know the affiliate programs that are available to you. The content you write should be able to catch a person's interest and direct them to an affiliate program website for the desired results. Leaing how to pre-sell a product appropriately will give you the best results.

Another affiliate program type worth mentioning is contextual based advertising programs. Google ad sense and Kanoodle are two of the programs that offer this type of advertising. The simplest explanation of these programs is they analyze the content on a web page and display ads that are related to what you have written. If you have a topic that really interests you, but can not find any affiliate programs out there that will apply to your topic these are a good affiliate program to join and use on your website. These affiliate programs are good to use even if you have many affiliate programs already, because they can produce descent revenue by themselves.

The more affiliate programs you join the more chances for making money you will have. The more topics you have available for people to gain information from the more ways you can ea money from affiliate programs. Keeping up-to-date on the newest ways people use to advertise their affiliate programs and continuously improving your marketing knowledge will give you an advantage and lead you to a lucrative affiliate program business.

If affiliate program are so popular and so widely available and booming like mushroom...Why do most affiliate have a hard time making $100 per month ? And some never see have receive a check ? It's probably because they are not effective in their marketing campaign or doing noting at all.

But some affiliates are making big bucks. They are the one with an income of ($100,000 and over per year). There is also a big majority who still make a good income (around $10 000 to $75 000 a year). Of course the vast majority of affiliate will never make that much money. They fail miserably.

The solution? Take what you know, what you love, and tu it into a Theme-Based Content Site. Attract highly targeted, interested customers, provide solid value through content, then refer them to your affiliated merchants.

    DRIVING TRAFFIC

Having lot's of traffic to your website is a big challenge. But it is essential to be successful. Or at least to make a reasonable amount of money.

You have to make your site "search engine friendly". You need content for the search engine to spider your website.

You need to know how your webpage is index and how well it is ranked on the SE to better perform.

Use every marketing method to drive traffic.

PPC Campaign Linking Strategy Writing Articles Ezine Publishing Newsletter Banner Advertising Viral Marketing (EBooks, Freeware etc.) Offline as well. (Business Cards, Flyers, Radio Spots etc.)

    CONCLUSION

Affiliate Program are great. You can really make a substantial income at almost no cost. This is the simplest way to start a business. You can really succeed if you keep leaing and experimenting.

Hotsheets are a great way to put your business in front of the people that you want to convert to customers.

Who can use a Hotsheet? Just about anyone that's looking for a simple way to promote their business, website, affiliate program, etc.

Let's say that you're a Real Estate Agent trying to get your name out in a manner that will make your name the very first one that comes to mind when people want quality representation.

You might consider putting out a Hotsheet designed to appeal to the buyers you're trying to reach. "10 Things You Should Know BEFORE you buy". You would then have a Hotsheet that would inform your prospect about such things as property location, how to get the best deal on a mortgage, etc.

At the end of your Hotsheet is YOUR name, and complete contact information. You might even spotlight a couple of your current listings.

Producing a Hotsheet that ties into an affiliate program is another great way to drum up business. You would build interest around your subject, then close with a link to your affiliate program, website, etc.

Here's another idea.. Sell your Hotsheet on Ebay! Again, you would build your Hotsheet around the subject of interest, and at the end you would link to your store, affiliate program, website, etc.

Give it a try. Nothing can help boost your business, and your income like a Hotsheet.

    Affiliate Site Branding

Many affiliates consider themselves information sources, or niche environments where people with specific interests meet and communicate. They (and their visitors) consider them to be experts in their fields, but they often don't think of themselves as a brand. Thinking of their site in terms of brand identity is a jump for them. But branding isn't just for monolithic companies like Microsoft or Procter & Gamble.

You have your own unique identity, you do things a certain way, people expect certain things of you – they trust you. You've eaed what the annual reports of the big companies call "goodwill". Goodwill is the value of the company above and beyond the pile of cash they'd receive if they sold everything the company owned. A niche site with a following has plenty of goodwill. So how do you capitalize upon it?

Create a special logo, typeface and "look" for your site. Take a look at your competitors and be sure that no one, no matter how quickly they look will mistake you for a competitor. Let your own personality shine through in everything. If you have pet phrases, what better than having them become part of the "speak" of your niche group. Develop a tagline, or better yet, have an online contest for a tagline. Who knows the brand better than the people who've invested in it? In everything you do, from answering questions on your blog, to choosing the tone of informational articles, keep your brand in mind. You'll know it's working when you hear your niche group refer to something as a very (your brand name)y way of doing things!

Free Marketing Article Tips Have Contributed Enormously To The Success Of Many Affiliates

Free marketing article tips have had a huge impact in the lives of many affiliates involved in various affiliate programs.

Affiliates are the most successful group amongst online entrepreneurs although few are willing to go public about what they ea or the amazing free marketing article tips that they are using to ea those hefty six figure commission checks.

But there is one major stumbling block that affiliates who have not discovered free marketing article tips face today. And that is how to advertise their programs or how to generate enough sales leads. To be successful in any online venture a person needs numerous leads on an ongoing basis, that way they will have a chance of tuing as many of them as possible into actual sales. Free marketing article tips have enabled many affiliates to generate qualified leads rather effectively.

The more prosperous affiliates have always used pay-per-click ads. The effectiveness of these ads is being eroded daily by the increasing number of fraudsters and scum artists who have invaded pay-per-click ads in droves. This has meant that out of the total click-throughs a person receives and has to pay for, an increasingly horrifying percentage are generated by fraudsters who have no intention of buying anything from the advertised web site.

That has left free marketing article tips as an increasingly attractive and more viable option.

E Zine Advertising Tips for Affiliates

In affiliate marketing, the affiliates are looking into ways in which their chosen products can be promoted more effectively. One creative and effective way is the use of e-zine advertising. To use this tool for promotion, the affiliate must first know what e-zine advertising is all about.

An e-zine is a newsletter sent to subscribers. It is a coined term for magazine which is published in the Inteet. The core subject or theme of the newsletters can be anything. And when a newsletter has been around long enough within cyberspace, the number of subscribers of the newsletter will reach a point that it represents a considerable percentage of the global market.

And when the number of subscribers is large enough, the publisher of the e-zine will be selling space in it to online businessmen and to affiliates. Such is the beginning of the publisher's e-zine advertising. To acquire the maximum benefits of e-zine advertising, here are some tips that an affiliate may keep in mind.

·Some e-zines are simply paragraphs sent in an email, while other e-zines provide links to other websites. The affiliate should choose e-zines that have these exteal links. If the affiliate has signed-up with a pay-per-click program, he can arrange the link to be directed to the merchant's website. Otherwise, the link could lead to the affiliate's website. What is important is that the e-zine should encourage its recipients or subscribers to have a more active role.

·One type of e-zine ad is similar to a banner ad while the other type is called a solo ad. The former is cheaper while the latter is more expensive. But the solo ads take the complete attention of the reader, while the banner-like ads will be competing with other banner ads. The affiliate must look hard into his budget and decide which type of e-zine ad will work best for his affiliate marketing business.

·The placement of the e-zine ad is important. The top sponsor ads are better than ads placed in the middle of the newsletter article. An ad placed right in the middle will most likely be skipped by the reader. While the ad placed at the top will surely be read first. The top ads are, of course, more expensive than the middle ads. But what good will a middle ad do when it cannot even get one visitor? Next to top ads, the bottom ads are effective. When the article of the newsletter is engaging, the reader will reach the end and find the bottom ad. Since the recipient is through reading, he is more inclined to click on the link of the bottom ad.

·A targeted niche is better than a generalized approach. To have an e-zine ad that targets a specific audience, the affiliate must find out from the newsletter's publisher the topics of the next issues. Once the next issue is known, for example "vintage cars", the affiliate can choose among his products which is most related to the issue, for example, "car parts". An e-zine ad about another topic, such as "computer software" will be ignored by the reader.

By using the above e-zine advertising tips, the affiliate can avoid spending for advertisements that are ineffective. And he can focus on ads that will easily translate to sales.

How To Make Quick Cash With Resell Rights

Today I'm going to talk to you about how to make some quick cash with resell right products. Resell Right products allow you to resell them and pocket 100% of the commissions. These are a big craze on the inteet and you probably have some hiding somewhere on your hard drive.

The first thing to consider is what type of resell license you have. Usually this license will come with the product itself or in a "read me" file. I like to keep my products organized. I keep them organized in folders. I'll keep a main folder just called resell rights. Then I'll have in that folder another folder for "stand alone" products. I'll create another one for products that can be "bundled" or "used as bonuses." Then I'll create one more folder for products that can be "given away free."

** How To Sell When You Have Competition **

Resell Right Products are a great way to make money but you have to worry about your competition. One way to do this is to buy rights to a less competitive product. Someone might offer resale licenses to his product for only 100 people. By buying a license to a product like this, you know that you'll have far less competition. The disadvantage of this is that you'll often end up spending several hundred dollars.

For those that don't have the money to invest in limited resell right licenses, there's still hope. You just have to make your offer stand out from the crowd. The easiest way is to pile on the bonuses.

Remember earlier I had you create a folder called "bonuses." These are products that can be offered as bonuses or bundled with other products. Adding bonus products is the easiest and most lucrative way to get someone to buy the same product that is being marketed strongly by other resellers.

Besides bonuses you also can make your sales page seem different. One thing you can do is change your headline. Another thing you can do is change the graphics. People notice right away if they've seen the offer before by the graphics and the headline. If you're a good copywriter you can even change the entire sales letter. Make the site look completely new.

    ** Limited Time Offers **

In the resell right license, they'll usually tell you if a product is a stand alone product. This means that it can't be sold as a package or a collection of products. I usually like to sell these as they usually have more value and since they can't be bundled, they're not as widespread.

I think the best way to sell a product is by offering a limited time offer to your list. Find a great product and then find products that can be used as bonuses. Offer these extra products for a limited time. Be sure that you take your page down when you said that you would or you'll loose credibility.

    ** One Time Offers **

This is a great way to make some extra cash. Find as many products as you can that can be bundled together in a package. Offer them all for an incredible price to the people who just joined your mailing list. Make this a one time offer in that they'll only see the offer once.

You'll be surprised how many people will take you up on these one time offers and it's a great way to build some cash.

    ** eCourses **

eCourses are a great way to sell resell rights. The better products will come with an ecourse already. If you don't have one, don't worry. It's as easy as slapping some related articles into an autoresponder.

What you can do is promote the ecourse first and once the person subscribes forward them to the sales page for the resell right product. It takes the average person atleast 7xs to see an offer before they buy. Creating an ecourse is an excellent way to people to buy as you can keep reminding them about your product.

    ** A Word About Freebies **

I would stay away from products that say they can be sold or offered for free. You're going to have an upset customer if someone pays money for a product and then finds out that others are giving it away for free. I use these as subscriber bait. They sound impressive because they can be sold. So use them to get people to subscribe to your ezine or your ecourse for the product.

Dos And Don ts For Affiliates Part 1

If you want your online business to be successful, it's a good idea to optimize your site on a regular basis to make sure it's got a good position in the Web's top search engines.

However, in order to maintain your ranking, you have to keep on top of what's happening in the rapidly changing search engine industry. The rules that affected your ranking yesterday may be meaningless tomorrow!

Read on to lea more about the latest developments in the search engine industry and what key tricks you should (and shouldn't!) use to optimize your site to make sure it gets a high ranking with all the major search engines, plus the tools and resources you can use to keep it there.

The "Dos" and "Don'ts" are constantly changing! The search engine industry is continually evolving. You need to know which of the major "players" is powering the smaller search engines if you want to know where you should focus your optimization efforts.

    1. The battle of the titans

For the past couple of years, the major search engines have been preparing to square off against each other and battle it out for the industry's top spot. Google has been #1 for a while now, but Yahoo! and MSN have been making moves to steal the crown.

Google is still extremely powerful, with about a 55% market share. Yahoo! is the closest runner-up, with about 20% of users choosing it as their main search engine. And MSN is still a distant but threatening third, with about 10% of the global usage share.

Keep in mind, however, that Google and Yahoo! power many of the smaller search engines. For example, Google powers the free listings featured on AOL and Netscape, plus the paid listings featured on AOL, Netscape, Ask Jeeves, HotBot, Teoma, and Lycos.

Yahoo! powers free listings featured on MSN, AltaVista, AllTheWeb, and HotBot, plus the paid listings on MSN, AltaVista, and AllTheWeb.

However, MSN won't be powered by Yahoo! for much longer! MSN came out with a preview of their own long-anticipated search engine technology earlier this month. They're still working out the bugs, and the official MSN Search engine is still being powered by Yahoo!. But you can expect MSN to go solo sometime over the next few months.

You need to be aware of these changes if you want to gear your optimization efforts toward the engines that will send you as much traffic as possible.

    2. The changing rules of search

Of course, you also need to keep tabs on changes to the search engines themselves!

Search engines frequently change the algorithms they use to rank sites. They don't want unscrupulous site owners manipulating their indexing methods in order to get high rankings. By doing so, they damage the integrity of free search!

As soon as the search engines become aware of a trick being used by "search engine spammers" to boost their site ranking, they figure out a way to catch them.

So be careful! You don't want to catch yourself employing a "great strategy" promoted by a marketing "expert," only to find out it's a tactic the search engines hate! That could get you booted off their listings in no time flat.

In fact, that's exactly what happened at the end of last year, during what has come to be called the "Florida Google Dance."

Google made some major changes to their algorithms in November 2003 and started imposing an "over-optimization penalty" on any sites that appeared to be artificially boosting their site's relevancy for targeted keywords.

Many members of the business community were surprised to find their sites dropped from their high ranking in Google's listings. These people had to put a lot of work into revamping and resubmitting their sites in order to get listed again.

And many of the people who were penalized weren't "unscrupulous" site owners! They weren't trying to pull a "fast one" on search engines using frowned-upon techniques such as "keyword stuffing." They were simply trying to be smart marketers -- and some feel they were unfairly punished for it.

You don't want the same thing to happen to you!

So let's have a look at a list of what exactly the search engines are currently looking for when indexing sites -- and what they'll punish you for...
